Effective video production is compelling visual storytelling that achieves “top of mind awareness” and persuades the audience to perform an action. Successful video is no accident however, as it takes careful preparation and attention to detail throughout the process. Below are the principles we use in every video project – we call them the Endeavour 8.

Outline – projects should start with a very succinct brief from the client about their objectives, target audience, distribution points for the video, etc. We then work with the client adding, deleting and massaging that brief.

Storyboards – From this client and agency-vetted outline, succinct storyboards are developed that will help the actors, camera operators, audio engineers, etc. know how they need to set up for each shot and ensure a fluid shoot.

Scouting/Advance Work - while the outline and storyboards provide a good roadmap, extensive scouting of your locations can make all the difference in the world. Identifying lighting issues, audio disturbances and other issues that could disqualify a location ahead of time saves time and money.

Scripting – With all the preparation taken in steps 1-3, it would make little sense not to have professional scripting open to various opportunities for ad-libs and elaboration that the actors can digest ahead of time to ensure they show up on set with the tools they need to shine.

The Director – having a great Director can make all the difference in the world. The video shoot should not be run by a committee and the Director should know what they want from the beginning to end and have the guts to stop and readjust if need be.

Post-Production – having a skilled and experienced editor is important. Endeavour doesn’t hire interns for editing our client’s work and we focus on the message…not silly effects, camera tricks, etc.

Marketing Integration – having the Endeavour marketing Execs involved in the entire process is essential to ensure that the video is consistent with to the product, the company, the campaign, etc.

Scalability/Distribution – audiences consume media and video across multiple mediums from websites, to social networks like YouTube, cell phones, etc. Endeavour makes sure your core-video can be sliced up and reformatted for viewing on multiple media platforms.
